Editorial & Fact-Checking Policy

SmartMoneyReport exists to help everyday Indian investors make better-informed money decisions. That only works if you can trust what we publish. This policy explains how we research, write, verify, and correct our content.

1. Independence

Our editorial content is produced independently of advertisers, affiliate partners, and product issuers. Advertisers do not review, approve, or influence editorial content before publication. Rankings, ratings, and “best of” lists are driven by published, rules-based methodologies — placement cannot be bought.

2. Accuracy & Fact-Checking

  • Every figure (returns, rates, tax slabs, limits, dates) is checked against a primary source — regulator circulars (RBI, SEBI, AMFI, CBDT), official scheme documents, exchange data, or government notifications — before publication.
  • Each article displays its author and publication date. Articles with material updates show a revised date.
  • Evergreen guides and calculators are reviewed after every Union Budget, RBI policy change, and relevant regulatory circular, and at least quarterly.

3. Use of AI Assistance

We use AI tools to assist with drafting, data processing, and editing. Every published piece is reviewed, fact-checked, and approved by a human editor before it goes live. Responsibility for published content rests with our editorial team, not the tools used to produce it.

4. Ratings & Methodology Transparency

Proprietary ratings such as the SmartMoney Score follow a published methodology. We disclose data sources, refresh frequency, and known limitations on the methodology page. Where data is illustrative or delayed, pages say so.

5. Corrections

When we get something wrong, we fix it quickly and transparently:

  • Material errors (wrong figures, misstated rules) are corrected in the article with a visible correction note.
  • Minor errors (typos, formatting) are fixed silently.
  • To report an error, contact us — corrections are typically reviewed within 2 business days.

6. Compliance Boundaries

  • We publish factual fund performance data, ratings, and educational comparisons. We do not publish personalized buy/sell/hold calls for individual readers on the free website.
  • All investment content carries risk disclaimers (see our Disclaimer).
  • We do not use the names or logos of asset management companies in promotional material without written approval.
  • Affiliate relationships are disclosed on every page that contains affiliate links (see our Affiliate Disclosure).

7. Who We Are

SmartMoneyReport is operated by a SEBI-registered Investment Adviser. Personalized advisory services, when launched, will operate under the SEBI (Investment Advisers) Regulations, 2013, separately from the free editorial website.
